I have been far from regular in my posting effort of late. I guess I've just had lots of stuff on the go. I think if I had more to write about I'd write more often, maybe I should join a club or something. And I don't mean the internet chess club. Though I have managed at least 1 post a month for some time now if I remember rightly (which I wouldn't bet the farm on). Even though I haven't been posting, I have been updating my recently watched movies list, which if you missed it's all gone (well off the screen anyway). I should get around to doing a massive post of 1 liners about the movies I've seen lately. Some have been awesome, some haven't, and some I never got all the way through !

I forgot to mention in my previous post that I got rid of the on call mobile at work, and now we've outsourced the support of the suite of crap to the crappy company that made the mess (who I'm more than pleased I no longer work for). I laugh in their general direction, mwhahaha. I hear Steve (aka boo boo or Estaban) will be on call during their Christmas party cause he's not going roflmao!

I had my performance review at work, and I dunno how well it went, I guess I'll find out at bonus time. score Yep bonuses are paid at a fixed time of year, so even though I started half way through the year I'll still get something. Unlike the non-existent performance review at the previous crappy employer who shall remain nameless.

Another trip offshore via Timor Leste, again for the same crappy application made by the crappy company. My oh my it's humid in the tropics this time of year, something I've never experienced, and it's not just on the land, it's everywhere that's humid, even 400km's from the coastline. I must say I think the 12 hour shifts work well for me, pity I can't do 3,3,3,6 panels in Perth. The 6 weeks off part would rock, and it would happen over 3 times a year. Maybe I should make a good case of the offshore IT position being brought back and point out that I know heaps about everything but nothing in detail making me ideal for the job, and being single with no kids or life, yikes I'd even hire me, and any massive pay rise is well worth the minor inconveniences (like 600ms additional latency to the world). Of course the flip side to this is having to wait several weeks at a time to see how much stuff gets stolen this time, oh to work fly in fly out and live in the country. Maybe I should study up on telecoms because they can't do without telecoms staff, and they also get the desks in the server (telecom equipment) room (away from passing eyes hehe).

I hope my holiday is approved so I can spend more time away from it all again (this time armed with divx capable laptop though). Mental note: get a mag mount omni and hand held yagi for wardriving. Holiday this year will be Esperance again, because I've been invited to a wedding between Christmas and New Years. The plan is to take a bike and other fun stuff down because I'm armed with van of doom and want fun in the sun ! There were some kickass specials going on flying down, $88 each way, which is probably less that it would cost for me to drive down, but that offer is gone now so I hope my leave is approved otherwise it'll cost heaps to get to the wedding.

Since I can't really talk about work, yadda yadda, I guess I'm falling off the face of the earth. But, don't lose interest yet, I've got some ideas up my sleeve still (or my bright orange overalls as it may be) and I'm trying to make it a reality. I'll see what I can get done over my holiday, hmm maybe that's a contradiction.

I've been heavily getting into some TV shows lately. Enterprise is back again for season 4, some Stargate Atlantis episodes are out, still waiting on SG1's return. Oddballs from completely left field, Saved By the Bell (Only 1 season ;) and Weird Science (4 seasons so far ;) and I'm trying to locate more 3rd Rock from the Sun. I also discovered Trailer Park Boys which is awesome, I watched 4 season of it, and can't wait for season 5.

I've also heavily pruned my mp3 collection (which might be at work depending on who you ask), it got far too big and was taking up too much space on my work laptop. I still have a long way to go, but I've nearly halved it's size down to 10gig. I'm aiming for 5gig, but I think I'll be happy if I can get it down to 7 or 8 gig. Once I'm done with this one, I'll tackle my collection at home.

My van is going well, averaging 550km's to a (50L) tank (8.3L/100km's currently). I'm going to wait a bit before getting a kart, this way I can pay back half the loan on it to save real money. Yeah I borrowed money to get my van, even though I'm not a fan of borrowing money unless you need to, and honestly I didn't need a van, so it's clearly a luxary, and it is because the air con works. But either way I should own the whole thing within the year anyway, I didn't borrow heaps on it, and it wasn't excessively expensive. The other reason for the hold off from the kart is I'm still tossing up getting a 100J or a 125 Maxx, each has pros and cons and it might end up coming down to the one that the clubs have more people in. I like it when cost doesn't really come into it anymore, either way browsing ebay helps. I guess I should test drive a 100J and a 125maxx before hand anyway, just so I know what I'm getting into. That might cost lots too because they think every fool wants to total their expensive karts.

I cleaned my house far cleaner than ever before, in preparation for inspection from evil properly managers new assistant. I'm expecting something along the lines of dust on door frames because that is the only thing I missed (well that and the crappy curtains). I guess I'll find out when I get back.

I went massively over my internet quota last month, I'm expecting about a $135 bill yikes for November calendar month (which is quite good considering I went over 9 days in). But since money is like water lately it's all ok (provided I get value for my money). Why pay for a 1.5meg dsl line if you get shaped after 10gig is what I say ! Mind you I will be switching ISP's if/when I move again. Yeah I'm still keen on finding a nicer place, but the cost benefits of the house o shite and crappe outweighs my interest in finding a newer place. Well that and the annoyance of the real estate industry in general. They are more than willing to take your money, but don't seem to want to help me at all. If I were american I'd sue them, but I'm not stupid.

My shiny new file server isn't performing as I would have hoped, I guess the Epia 12000 isn't quite what I needed. Pity I spent the cash on a Flex ATX case though too, because I can't fit a micro atx board in there. I'm half tempted to get a cheap ass p4 i915 board and a mini atx case and rebuild it in there with a full size or micro atx board. Only half tempted because I don't need to upgrade it, it does work as is, and changing it I'd lose the size advantage that the current box has, but after all size isn't everything grin. I would gain gigE capacity which is important when you storing 700+gig in a box. But all is not lost, the Epia 12000 would make an awesome upgrade for ike, but then what to do with the fanless Epia 5000. Alternatively I'm interested in remote control apps and the 12000's onboard CF and PCMCIA could come in handy. Lots of this stems from ideas I'd like to persue, but haven't been able to due to time constraints (I should retire now shouldn't I).

Still haven't made bulk coin. You'll know when I have because there'll be posts on here far more often. And they might even be interesting like the ones John Carmack posts on Armadillo Aerospace. mmm rockets.

This has acutally turned into a massive post, currently weighing in at over 8k of raw unedited plain text. Hope everyone had DSL by now, if not, ahh well at least my site isn't graphically intensive.
