oh my (delayed)

Just the other week: Vorbis 1.0, Perl 5.8 and Debian 3.0. Adding to this, I upgraded kyle to Redhat 7.3 (after much mucking around to fix the broken apt resource) and contemplated trying Gentoo on stan.

In the previous 4 (or so) weeks, we've had 2 lans. A smallish one down here, Reload 3, and the bigger, longer and errr, Walan. I did get some decent leather CD wallets from the WALAN so it wasn't too bad overall. I also managed to stomach maccas twice in 2 weeks and both times scored a free sundae.

I've been so busy with work, and stuff I just haven't had time, nor been able to make time to do anything of real substance lately. My parents went up north for a week and arrived back on sunday morning (don't ask), my brother is over in Queensland now and my mother has retired. shaped Pear things gone have. However I have all of the wireless gear now.

I'm moving to Perth. Yes it's true. Not only did I score a job in Perth, I got 2 in 2 days. Which led me on a week long voyage of personal discovery (or vision quest) to decide which to go to. The one was offering a substantial package, including relocation and higher rate of pay, though the work was less interesting and could have become mundane in time. The other (which I decieded on) appears to be a very interesting and potentially rewarding position in a local (Perth) firm doing software development and database manipulation.

I've left this update far too late. It sat in an open text file for about a week now, better post it. 2 days left at Iluka.

moo !

Everything is on right now. More wireless cards are heading my way, my GBA is finally heading my way, the lan is this weekend and the next. * more as in another batch, this lot mainly to lower the average cost of the last lot but also to make up numbers.*

Web server problems at Reload caused some problems but we have to manage with what we have if you know what I mean.

My brother has moved to Cairns, yes that's still in Queensland. Consequently I've scored lots of free stuff and a bunch of stuff I paid for including a kick ass futon which folds into a couch.

I've also scored Wayne's World, Wayne's World 2 and Dude Where's My Car DVDs though there was money swapped with the store for these. I'm still trying to get Black Adder disk 2, The Naked Gun and The Naked Gun 2.5. Time will tell. I've even been tempted by the Star Trek Next Gen boxed sets, but the cost is prohibitive for me.

While all this has been happening, I've been trying to catch up on anime watching and various TV shows I try to keep current with. Did you know there was this thing called The World Cup ? Apparently its this really big thing, but it seems to have passed me by, sort of like the first 14 rounds of AFL this season. I've never been a big sports fan really, and having no reception on the TV device has lead me to other things.

I unblured my monitor this week. Wow, it's like a new one again, crisp, sharp, clear, even at 1280x1024x32x85 its so clear and readable even from a distance. Makes me wonder why I didn't unblur it before. Speaking of unsomethinging I've been able to unclutter the disks of doom and free up around 60 gig which has enabled me to defragment the disks (backup, format, restore method).

I'll be upgrading Wendy and Kyle to Redhat 7.3 soon, once I've ironed out a bug in the apt repository I'm using. Though we seem to be coming across some odd problems with 7.3, OTOH I haven't done an install yet so the normality curve could be thrown out the xwindow until then.

I saw Spiderman on Sunday and it well, didn't quite live up to the hype for me, it was good, it was worth paying money to see in the cinema, but I wouldn't see it twice in the cinema.

I'm still locating parts of my costume for the weekend, I think I'll be able to pull it off so to speak, but you never know without certain key elements the whole thing is up the crapper.

While preceding your entrance with a grenade is a good tactic in Quake, it can lead to problems if attempted at work.
